Getting ready to move and work in Canada can be quite an overwhelming process and I honestly don’t think that it would have happened as quickly or as smoothly if it wasn’t for Phil Jost. I moved over from the UK on my own in 2008, but Phil was there for me every step of the way. From the very first telephone conversation he was able to assess my credentials and provide me with accurate information with regards to licensing and where I could practice as a family physician in Canada. Phil has extensive experience in working with physicians and keeps himself informed on any new developments that could affect his clients. He maintains a strong working relationship with colleagues in the Department of Health and at the College of Physicians and Surgeons and was also able to liase with them on my behalf. The immigration process is tedious but he made regular phone calls to me to see how it was going and was always available when I needed advice. He is incredibly efficient in his work, has a good understanding of the indvidual’s needs, is encouraging and extremely patient. After arriving in Canada I was introduced to his family who welcomed me and became my first friends here. He was able to advise me on most things from buying a car to where to buy the best snow gear. After living in Canada for over two years he still checks up on me and makes himself available and approachable. He has and continues to remain genuinely interested in me as well as my family’s welfare. I am very grateful to him for his huge efforts, he truly goes above and beyond, and would recommend him wholeheartedly without any reservation.

I met Phil Jost from CanAm Physician Recruiting during a Canada wide job search for a staff cardiologist position. An initial telephone conversation introduced us to a polite, well-mannered gentleman willing to help and guide me on our journey of securing a post as an International Medical Graduate (IMG). Phil proved to be anything but a typical recruitment consultant. He called, frequently followed up, and took the time to ask all the relevant questions in relation to our needs on both the professional and personal fronts. Phil’s skills and experience are exceptional, and he was very helpful in initially refining our job search by identifying the best and most appropriate hospitals, in the most suitable Canadian locations. His persistence, drive and dedication were remarkable, and of great help in emphasizing my unique skills and experience to his clients. His advice in preparing for the interview was also remarkable. He met me at the airport, and took care to discuss details of the position that ensured I was well prepared to perform in the interview. Once an offer for a job was made Phil contacted the College of Physicians and Surgeons of the province to ensure that my license to practice was issued on time.Phil guided us through the privilege documentation needed by the hospital and was accurate and precise in all details. After I started my new job, Phil again contacted us to ensure everything was to our satisfaction. Phil also organized for an immigration lawyer to arrange a work permit. He introduced us to realtors, mortgage brokers and other service providers required when you’re a foreign worker moving with a family. His guidance on the personal front was excellent. We bought a house in the suburb that was best for our family through a realtor he recommended, and with five months hindsight, it has proven an excellent choice. We couldn’t be happier. He remained in contact throughout our move. Recently we faced a new obstacle with our health insurance because of our status as foreign workers, and one call to Phil had it resolved within 24 hours (our health insurance was reinstated without a gap). During the time we have worked with Phil, he has always responded and returned our calls promptly, even while he was on vacation. His commitment, dedication and loyalty to his clients are exceptional. His knowledge of the Canadian Health Care System is extensive

Mr. John Philpott spent hours with me on the telephone to explain the pros and cons of international and Canadian medical licensure. The information was of enormous value to me to plan my future Canadian medical practice career strategy. He responded quickly after my initial registration and clearified my options in Canada. I am very impressed with CanAm’s services. I strongly believe no other agency could provide such reliable information.

None of the good things already posted about Hedi Cameron are exaggerations. At the age of 52 I have seldom if ever met a more professional person, pleasant to talk to and following through on every detail. After she spent some time with me at one of my job interviews, the person who hired her to recruit me also commented on her outstanding professionalism, as it is even more apparent in person than it is on the phone. I once told a friend thinking of relocating to Canada to call her if interested, that she would feel like a million dollar CEO the way everything was taken care of in such a friendly, prompt and efficient manner. Now I’m moved to the practice she helped me choose without pressure, she is still invested in my success here. We doctors seldom encounter people in the business world who behave as if every person and every detail matters in the way we often try to in our work, so when someone exceeds our expectations it really is extraordinary.

At the time I made up my mind for a move to practice in Ontario, I first contacted Phil Jost who directed me to call Hedi Cameron who is in charge of Canam Recruiting operations in Ontario. I am glad he did because right from the time I gave Hedi a phone call about my plans to get registered in Ontario, she immediately got the ball rolling and made what was a difficult process an easy one. Hedi worked and guided me through the application which was quite demanding, by her numerous pieces of advice and tips through e-mails and phone calls. She never for once kept me waiting for answers to questions I raised during the process. E-mails were responded to and phone calls were promptly returned. While guiding me through the registrations with CPSO, she also helped me in looking for practices from which I eventually picked one. She stood by me up to the point of signing the contract with the owners of the practice I chose to work from. All through the process, Hedi was very professional and she demonstrated a deep knowledge of the issues involved in helping physicians get registered with the CPSO, relocate and practise in Ontario. It is without reservation that I recommend Hedi to any physician with plans to register and work in Ontario. Many thanks to you Hedi.

I am a Neurologist who has recently relocated from West Virginia (USA) to Toronto Canada. I want to especially thank my recruiter Hedi Cameron, CanAm Physician Recruiting, who helped me through this move. Getting credentialed through CPSO (College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario) was a long process requiring a lot of patience. Hedi was very helpful and informative during this period. Hedi was a delight to work with. She was professional, responsive and exhibited a great deal of attention to detail. She responded to my calls promptly. She not only helped me in getting licensed, but also went the extra mile to help me with my immigration paper work, fiinding a residence and other related matters. I want to express my deep appreciation and admiration for her highly efficient, professional, and personable help. I would strongly recommend Hedi of CanAm as a physician recruiter for anybody who is planning to move to Canada. Samina Kazmi, MD

Hey, nothing’s impossible. I’m from the Philippines and am now working in Nova Scotia. If you want a strong team beside you to guide you in finding a job in Canada, then CanAm is what you’re looking for! After submitting my application, I got an email in 2 days with a possiblity for a job opening. I had a difficult visa situation but CanAm with John Philpott at the helm as well as their affiliate immigration specialists led by Ravi Jain (Green and Spiegel) got the job done. When push came to shove these guys did not back down and worked with me and my family to get us to Nova Scotia, took care of us when we arrived, and helped us settle down soon afterward. You would think they’d be done after that but no, another partner (D Marc Telfry), who with John was nice enough to welcome us at the airport, even showed up at my clinic a month after to check and see how me and my family were doing. How’s that for personalized service? That’s the CanAm advantage! Let’s see if any other recruitment group can top that. Thanks again to John Philpott and CanAm. PS: Thanks for the shirt, John!

Phil Jost – Having recently graduated from post-graduate residency and fellowship training in the United States, I was not looking forward to the arduous task of applying for medical licensure nor the challenging necessity of seeking employment in my specialty in Canada. I initially pursued these endeavours independently but soon became frustrated with the number of administrative and other hurdles I faced. When I contacted CanAm Physician Recruiting, I was pleasantly surprised with the promptness of their response (I received a phone call the same day), and with the eagerness of the staff to assist me. The advisor with whom I spoke referred me to you (Phil Jost) stating your expertise in obtaining positions in New Brunswick and surrounding areas. I wished to express my heartfelt gratitude for your assistance with both finding an ideal position for me , as well as your advice and help in procuring my New Brunswick medical license. In these regards, I found you to be attentive to my particular needs and extremely resourceful as well. I also believe you went beyond the call of duty to ensure my smooth transition to licensure, as well as in assisting me find an ideal practice setting within one day of my initial contact with you. Thank you again for your help, and please note that in addition to using your services in the future as needed, I will highly recommend you personally as well as CanAm Physician Recruiting to colleagues seeking practice opportunities in Canada.

Leszek Swica MD, FRCPSC

My name is Leszek Swica, I am Canadian trained and Royal College certified anesthesiologist. Following completion of my residency training at the Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia I worked for 13 years at the Aberdeen Regional Hospital in New Glasgow, Nova Scotia. In November 2011 administration cancelled the local anesthesia contract agreement and I decided to look for another place of employment. Following recommendation of my anesthesia colleague I contacted Mr. John Philpott from CanAm Physician Recruiting. In his recruitment effort Mr. Philpott was looking for the place that would match my training, work experience, carrier goals and would also give me financial stability. He identified a vacant position at the Cypress Regional Hospital in Swift Current, Saskatchewan which was not advertised in medical journals or recruitment web sites. Mr. Philpott was very efficient in his search and brought to my attention the fact that there was another strong candidate looking seriously at this place. Following his advice I went ASAP for the site visit in Swift Current. I received the job offer and I signed my present contract agreement at the time of that site visit in March 2012. Thanks to Mr. Philpott I found a great place to work and live. The Cypress Regional Hospital has a very professional work environment and friendly relations between OR staff and members of other departments. Physicians are very well looks after and enjoy good working relations with the local administration. The Cypress Health Region has the Family Medicine training programme affiliated with the University of Saskatchewan. As a preceptor of the residents having anesthesia rotations I was appointed a Clinical Assistant Professor at the College of Medicine, University of Saskatchewan. I find my teaching activities to be very exciting, professionally stimulating and refreshing. Town of Swift Current has a population size, life style and all amenities very similar to Pictou County in Nova Scotia where I lived and worked until April 2012. Province of Saskatchewan has a strong and booming economy. Saskatchewan Medical Association enjoys very good working contacts with the provincial government and is able to negotiate good working conditions and competitive income for its members. It is my great pleasure to write about this positive experience and I can highly and without hesitation recommend Mr. John Phipott and CanAm Physician Recruiting. He is very professional and honest. He is also very efficient and his recruitment objectives are
