Coastal Living GP-extremely lucrative practice
Description:
General info - Rural community on east coast of Nova Scotia with coastal living at it's finest! We have 7000 active charts. We do not do deliveries. We do not care for in-patients - there is a community hospital half an hour away.
We have an accredited "Community Health Centre" with 3 ER rooms (full trauma/cardiac equipped), full lab & x-ray with an attached 29 bed nursing home. We have defib-equipped ambulances and a heli-pad (53 min flying time for patients to Halifax - they provide the team). We have a modern office with 7 examining rooms, single level, paved parking, adjacent to drug store and a 20 second trip to the Centre. I water-ski, scuba dive, downhill ski and sail. I have a private squash court, and there is an excellent golf course 30 min away. There is great lake canoeing within 5 minutes The school is across the street from the office. Excellent cellular coverage.
I have been here as a 3 to 4 physician practice for the past 25 years. It is shrinking to only myself as of June 27, 2008. It is a very high income practice; earning $250 to $350 in Fee for service billings plus almost $200,000 each in emergency call pay ($68/hour) with the option of picking up shifts at the community hospital for $134/hour. It has been a Dalhousie University Family Medicine undergrad and postgrad teaching centre for 10
years and was ranked the top teaching centre for residents in the Maritime provinces in 2004-2005.
